15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots.And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man;and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.—2 Kings 6:15-17 (KJV)
In this somewhat well-known Bible story, we see a discussion between the Prophet Elisha and his servant. This exchange did not have as much to do with their enemy as it did with how the servant saw the enemy. He saw and feared the size and might of the enemy more than believing in and embracing the power of God.
We all are facing some sort of enemy in our lives…many of us are facing numerous enemies! What or who you may think your adversary is—is not as important as how you see that situation in your life. We have been taught throughout our lives to give in to fear and doubt. However, God wants us to lead a life of love and trust instead of fear and faith instead of doubt!
Our model must be changed radically; we absolutely must see things the way God does!
- Instead of sickness, we must see health;
- instead of lack, we must see abundance;
- instead of trouble, we must see peace;
- and instead of defeat, we must see victory!
There is no defeat in God! If we are experiencing anything other than victory in our lives, we need to stop and take an assessment of how we see the circumstance we are facing.
Now, lest I be misunderstood, I am not saying that we will not face any complications or difficulties in our lives. What I am saying is: if the Bible is right, something else is wrong! Very possibly, what is wrong is the way we see things.
God expects us to walk in victory…not ‘win a few, lose a few.’ Will it be easy? No, there is no ‘easy button’ in this walk of faith but we do have the promise of the God of Heaven, if we will walk in His Ways, trust Him with our whole heart, lean not to our own understanding, and acknowledge Him in everything…we can trust Him for the victory each and every time!
In other words, we need to see things God’s way and not ours or the world’s way. We absolutely can experience great transformation in our lives if we will only pray, like Elisha prayed for his servant, for the Lord to open our eyes that we may see!
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. 25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.—Mark 8:24-25 (KJV)
This man came to Jesus for healing for blindness but still had issues with his sight after receiving the balm for his eyes. Jesus could have left him in that state because surely some sight was better than none at all. But that is not God’s way; He wants us to see properly! So Jesus laid His hands on his eyes and had him to look up, and was healed with clarity of sight.
- When we see properly, we will not think that things are hopeless; we will begin to boast about how great our God is!
- When we see properly, we will not be dependent on this world’s provisions but know that God supply our needs!
- When we see properly, we will respect our bodies and if we do get a ‘bad’ diagnosis, we will declare…by His stripes, I am healed!
My friend, it is all about how you and I see it! So, how do you see it? If you don’t see things right at this time, make up your mind to change the way you see things so you can change what you are experiencing in your life! When facing life’s challenges, make this your confession:
Lord, my eyes are open to see things the way you see them and I will only speak the victorious truth of that you have shown me!

It’s amazing how perception is key when entering into the revelations of God…it’s often not what we see that hinders us…it’s what we “don’t” see.I pray daily for God to enlighten the eyes of my understanding ..great word…
