Character is defined as moral or ethical quality.
In a world where character is not as essential as it once was, it is needed more than ever. Regardless of whatever area of life we may look…we need people of character. We need people we can depend upon to do the right thing…simply because it is right.
We must be of the mind and will to exemplify the personal moral or ethical quality necessary to function in whatever role we may be…family, social, business, etc. As a father and husband, I need to strive to be a man of character everyday. My wife and children must be able to trust that I will do the right thing, to the best of my ability, whether they agree or not.
- Character is making the adjustment in thinking and behavior needed to be a better person.
- Character is standing for what’s right when many others are compromising for what is easy.
- Character is seeking growth…even when it disagrees with your traditional thinking.
- Character will lead you higher, even when it seems to take you backwards.
Remember to always strive to exemplify character by doing, the right thing…just because it is right!

When I was a child and didn’t want to do some chore, my mother would say, “Do it anyway. It will build character.” I didn’t appreciate those words at that time but I certainly appreciate them now. They still replay in my mind. I’m grateful for parents who demanded quality character development, especially when I frequently see a lack of good character in society. Thank you for sharing!

Good article. Character must be developed over time through hardship and conflict. You may be interested in a living example of this. Powerful testimony.
