9 Because of this, since the day we heard about you, we haven’t stopped praying for you and asking for you to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will, with all wisdom and spiritual understanding. 10 We’re praying this so that you can live lives that are worthy of the Lord and pleasing to him in every way: by producing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God; 11 by being strengthened through his glorious might so that you endure everything and have patience—Colossians 1:9-11 (NLT)
I have a question. Do you regularly pray for your spouse? If not, why not?
Think of it. Your spouse, next to God, should be the most important person in your life—more than children, parents, or anyone else. You are connected to that man or woman and to pray for them is the ultimate expression of your love for them.
You should be praying for their salvation—if they do not know the Lord. And if you do not know the Lord, give yourself over to Him totally—you will never regret it! Afterwards, you should be praying for their growth in God, their health and progression in life.
To pray for your spouse is to say: you and your relationship with God mean more to me than just my needs and what you can do for me.
If praying for your spouse is not a regular thing for you, there is no time like the present to start. The verse above is a good place to start. Try praying those things for your spouse this week and see the Word of God work in their life and ultimately in your marriage.

So true, so true! I pray daily, several times a day for my hubby. I know he prays for me. Without the Lord our marriage would not survive. It is only through the anchoring power of our Lord and Savior can we truly commit to one another. Without the Lord and prayer, our family, our marriage would be battered to shreds by this world. Oh Pastor Sebastian what you say is so true! God should anchor every marriage. As a counselor I have seen so many families deteriorate due to the wife wrapping her whole world around her children instead of her husband’s need for fellowship and companionship.
When God is the center and a husband is the head, families thrive. (Have you seen the movie Courageous?) When wives pray with their husbands for the first time, (me included) their is usually a self-consciousness that prevails – but power through it anyway. I love praying with my husband now and the more we do, the more God cements our marriage in His word. Blessings my friend and please pray for a (new possibility! yeah) God-willing outcome for a pastor position for my hubby. I even told God if this offered, I would endure the cold to do His work! 🙂

The power of praying with and for your spouse cannot be overstated. In marriage, we have a built-in prayer partner. I believe God designed it this way…two hearts joined together, united and cemented by Him! If the Church would major on this, our experiences would be revolutionized!
