Peace Within

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid”  — John 14:27 (NLT)

Increasingly, there is much to cause anxiety to rise within us. However, it is exactly these times we must turn to our faith and trust in God. Truthfully, I understand that everyone who may read this, may not believe in or see God the way I do. But do not let that stop you from finding peace within yourself.

Peace, according to the verse above, is found where the Lord put it–within you and I–not somewhere out in the ether. Often, we will hear someone say: “if I could only get some peace”, or “I’m going somewhere I can get some peace”. That’s okay if they are really talking about quiet or stillness, but if they are looking for peace, they do not have to ‘go’ anywhere.

If we will only stop long enough to hear the still small voice on the inside of us, we will truly find the ‘peace which passes all understanding‘; or as I like to say: peace which makes no sense.

So, my friends, I am saying to trust the peace of mind and heart within. When we do this, we will not succumb to the hamster wheel of looking for something outside of us that was within us all along.

I think people are looking for a piece of peace instead of the peace of Christ.
