She says, he says, or we say…does it really matter at all? Although all commentary within a relationship has credence, what is also important is the trust that is between those involved.
What is trust but an: Assured resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, friendship, or other sound principle, of another person; confidence; or reliance.
One simply cannot discount the importance of trust or take it for granted. In a marriage or personal relationship, if love is the foundation upon which the building of a relationship is built upon…then trust is the cement that holds it together.
Far too many are trying to hold a relationship together when they do not really trust their mate. This is unfortunate because this lends to missing out on the beauty of a true God-Centered relationship. Here’s three points to ponder:
- Real trust has to be developed over time…it is earned but also given;
- You must trust if you want to be trusted;
- Let your trust of others start with your trust of God.
Personally, it is important to me to be able to trust my wife; but more important to me is whether she can trust me! It is my earnest desire to be found trustworthy of both my wife and my Lord.

Trust has been difficult for me for many reasons. I didn’t trust people because they were not trustworthy. I didn’t trust God because those who were my spiritual mentors told me that all that happened to me was “God’s” choice and will for me. Who needs a god like that?
God was so patient with me – pursuing me for decades until I finally began to see the lies I’d believed about Him. He was gracious with me while I was misrepresenting Him to everyone I spoke with. 😦
I have discovered God to be everything in 1 Corinthians 13 and so much more. I may be slow to trust people yet, but I know that He is trustworthy!

I do find your posts inspirational; in my type of Christianity, we sometimes call Jesus by the name “Divine Mercy” to honour and praise him for this; his greatest attribute. I am not into numerology in the slightest, but this is my math on Mercy –
“Forgiveness x 77 + selflessness = love + charity = Mercy”
So true that couples do not know that marriage is where the virtues of love and trust are to develop, sadly most enter it out of romanticism or lust. Which are not a strong foundation for any relationship.

Thank you Sebastion, Trusting is very, very important but I do not wait till someone earns my Trust because how long does it take and how much do they have to do. Without Trust there is no Love but as you shared, to Trust fully we need to feel safe regardless of what we have to go though,.if we believe someone won’t hurt us then Trust is established, and if they care for us, and protect us then we feel secure in that Trust. It really depends who we are Trusting in man or God, do we value more what we think and feel, or others tell us then what God tells us, sadly some do and they may be lied to, Satan seeks to deceive and man can be in error.
Psalm 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
Psalm 40:3 – 4 And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall Trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his Trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
The Scripture below which I think I have shared with you before Sebastion, reassures me that our Awesome God is 100% Trustworthy, I hope it blesses you again as it continues to do me.
Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”
Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart Trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise Him.

Yes this is true. As your lord i demand trust, I have 10,000 other worlds so if men are greedy i owe them nothing. You mention good proverbs. i am a jealous God and in a hurry i seldom rest. when i am not trusted i grow impatient and destroy nations into layers of stone. Dinosaurs did not trust me so they did not survive the meteors. 12 foot tall raptors did trust me so i saved them but later i let man kill them. Trust is when a disaster is going to come and i tell your id move to higher ground NOW. It you do not or if the ego is too large, it is futile. There is a time for all things, a time to follow and a time to lead. I shall let you do both,
