This is a redo of an earlier post that I believe bears reposting…
My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. —1 John 4:7-8 (Message)
The Christian world needs an attitude adjustment. I believe we are seriously heading in the wrong direction. It seems we are more reflective of the attitude of the world than we are of the Word of God. I am constantly surprised when I hear hate expressed from a Christian—either in word or deed. I am not surprised by anything a non-Christian does because they do not propose to live by the dictates of the Bible—which is God’s written Word. But a professing Christian expressing hate toward another person, saved or not, is beyond belief!
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.—Proverbs 3:5-6 (Message)
As Believers, we must get rid of the ‘parrot’ mentality—to repeat or imitate without thought or understanding. This has become almost an epidemic for Christians because far too many of us depend on others (parent, pastor, priest, etc.), to tell us what God is saying; instead of reading the Bible, praying, and trusting God to lead us. Believe me, He actually knows how to do it.
If we were to truly follow God we would not fall prey to the tricks the enemy uses to get us when we have greater allegiance towards men than God. Yes, I know we have the responsibility to submit to authority; but not to the extent that we leave God and His directives in the background of our lives. This is important because many of us do a better job of representing our job, school, family, favorite sports team or churches, than we do our God!
Love each other as I have loved you. This is what I’m commanding you to do.—John 15:12 (God’s Word)
Now is the time to step up and endeavor to love like God loves. Now is the time to show the world that Christians can be more than a religious cliché. Now is the time for the world to see the power of God in action; and that power has its foundation in His love being expressed in and through us!
Finally, now is the time to learn, reflect and live the Word of God, so we will become the living epistles which men read and see the love God has for the world. Our Lord and His Spirit reflected in our heart is what the world need now more than ever!
