Don’t Miss Your Time

Everything has its own time, and there is a specific time for every activity under heavenEcclesiastes 3:1 (God’s Word Translation)

Far too often we get lost either observing or participating in someone else’s time or vision. This could be the dream of a parent, teacher, employer, child, spouse, or even a pastor or some spiritual leader.

These are all ok but do not become so engrossed in helping fulfill another’s dream or vision at the expense of your own purpose and time. In other words, always have an open heart for the leading of the Lord and the willingness to move at His command. I know this may not be a popular stance and some may say it is ‘out of order’. But obedience to God is always in order.

Does this mean to just quit or walk out? Of course not! What it does mean is: we who are believers, should do all things “as unto the Lord”, looking to Him daily for guidance. When we do this, He will let us know what to do and when to do it along the way. The scripture teaches us, “Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way”Proverbs 3:6 (Good News Translation). Ideally, we are connected to leaders and mentors who are leading us to fulfill God’s plan for our lives. But if not, we must be always be of the mind and heart, like our Lord: “…not my will, but yours be done”.

This is the generation that absolutely must follow the leading of the Lord–everything depends upon it. The world is delving into the clutches of sin and depravity as never before. But let’s not just focus on sin as an act and let’s see it as it is…separation from God. This separation will keep us from discovering God’s plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11)…which is always best.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.Hosea 6:3

It is our responsibility to seek the face of God to know and understand His Will and purpose for our lives. In other words, stay tuned into Him—doing this will help us read the “signs of the times” and see where we fit in and know where to get in. Read Psalms 1…it tells us what happens when a person places His trust in God and allows Him to be their guide. Let’s look at verse three:

They are like trees that grow beside a stream,
that bear fruit at the right time,
and whose leaves do not dry up.
They succeed in everything they do
Psalms 1:3 (GNT)

God has a time and a season for each of us; but we have to turn our focus on Him and not the task. He is the ‘coach’ and He will tell us what position to play and when to get into the game. Don’t miss your time by focusing on something else!
