David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.—1 Sam 17:37 (KJV)
Have you ever thought you were at the end of your rope and somehow you made it through? How about on more than one occasion? Have you ever been between the proverbial “rock and a hard place?” I’m speaking about having bills to pay and no money to pay them; or facing a report from the doctor that have them shaking their head.
It is these types of situations that make you forget anything that is good in your life. But it is these very circumstances that should remind you that all is not lost because you have faced tough times before and survived. Someone once said: “Tough times don’t last, tough people do.” I do not disagree but I do want to state that in the Kingdom of God, it is not just “toughness” that matter but “trustness” that do. I know that word probably didn’t exist before now but I’m trying to make a point…God is there, regardless of the circumstance, to see you through!
David faced an enemy that was big and powerful and had run over many of those who came before he did. But, he looked back over his life and saw the delivering power of an Almighty, unfailing God. His tough times included facing lions and bears but each time God was with him and saw him through to victory. Do not measure yourself or your resources against your circumstances. Rather, measure your circumstances against your God Who cannot fail!
In your past, no doubt, you may have faced things that are tougher than what you are facing now…maybe not. But be assured of this one thing: if you made it through that difficulty, you will make it through this one. This will, one day, be another victory you can look back on and gain encouragement for the future. Don’t quit and don’t ever give up because nothing is impossible if you only believe!
David remembered how God had brought him through in the past and used that for encouragement as a faith-builder to face the giant; and you know what happened to him! So my friends, when facing your giants, recall a previous victory and run to the battle—for the victory is surely yours!

I pity the circumstance that meets the face of my God.

Pastor Sebastian, this is one of your very best posts! This pertains to today more than ever with the horrible evils surrounding us. I trust in God completely and many Bible verses flow through my head: “If God is for us, who can be against us . . . be anxious for nothing . . . to live is Christ, to die is gain! All meant to strengthen us and as for me and my house, I will trust in my Lord. Blessings to you, as we continue to be blessed in our service here,
