Jesus said, “If? There are no ‘ifs’ among believers. Anything can happen.”—Mark 9:23 (Message)
Almost everywhere you turn, anyplace in the world, people are facing ‘impossible’ circumstances. Regardless of who you are, you will face difficulties or sometimes even impossible situations. Notwithstanding, the depth of your circumstance does not justify or limit God’s power to work on your behalf.
Moses answered the people, “Don’t be afraid! Stand still, and see what the Lord will do to save you today. You will never see these Egyptians again.—Exodus 14:13 (God’s Word Translation)
What is impossible to you or I, is possible to God. What makes it possible is the power of God to provide and produce. Someone once said that “man’s extremity is God’s opportunity.” I understand where they were coming from with that statement, and I am not saying they were incorrect; but I am saying they were very possibly incomplete with that statement. In other words, you do not have to reach your extreme to experience the power of God!
Our responsibility is to believe God from the beginning! If we fail to do so, if we fail to believe God from the beginning, we introduce turbulence into the atmosphere of our lives. In other words, failure to trust God, when facing difficult circumstances—introduces more difficulty, instead of presenting you with the answer.
20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.—Proverbs 4:20-22 (NLT)
When we pay attention to the Word of God, we are affirming our trust in God and His Word. We are saying that we trust more in the Word than in the circumstances of life. Doing this empowers us to rise above everything that is trying to hold us back.
Every time something seems impossible, search the scriptures to see what God has to say about it. If we spend time doing this anyway, we will not have to it as much when difficulties arise because the Word is in us already. Remember, anything can happen with God!
