Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.—Isaiah 53:1, 4-5 (KJV)
This post is designed to shine a light on God’s willingness to see the believer in good health. It is not, nor is it ever the will of God for sickness and disease to rule over the body of a believer. Unfortunately, there is too much of that happening and I want to call it out. This is something that has to be preached, if it is to be believed!
The past year has been a trying one for many, me included. There have been far too many deaths and sicknesses among many that we are acquainted with and ourselves as well.
I sit here sharing the concern that several of my dear friends must be feeling. Several of my friends and dear bloggers are facing health issues that have come seemingly out of nowhere. These issues are wide-ranging in their severity, and some can be very scary, but that should not determine the level of your faith when receiving a less than desirable report from the doctor.
To be clear, I am not placing a doctor’s report in question. What I am saying up front is: no matter what you may be facing, our God is a healer. He has provided His Word as medicine for us. We can take His Word when sickness comes upon us, just as we would take some prescribed medicine for treatment. Does that mean we are to ignore the doctor’s report? No! God uses the doctor too—however, they are not the final authority.
There is a stark difference between what a doctor says and what God says: the doctor relies on many years of training and experience to determine the diagnosis they reach. That which the doctor determines is fact but God’s word is truth. Truth is higher than fact—because truth is spiritual and fact is natural or sense-based! I am aware that this is not popular but that does not diminish the reliability of the Word of God.
“…for I am the Lord that healeth thee.” – Exodus 15:26
2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.—Matthew 8:2-3
The scriptures above states God’s position when the issue of healing comes up. It does not matter what the diagnosis is—our God is a healer. I am sure many of you reading this have had your own health experiences and scares, or know someone who has; and regardless of the outcome…I believe God heals. I have often heard people say and even pray ‘if it be the Lord’s will’, but here we see the Lord stating clearly that He heals—it is His will.
People try to measure the problem next to their experiences or opinion but the only thing the problem should be compared to is the Word of the living God…and there’s no comparison to that! I believe God means what He said—He is the God that heals! Our experiences do not validate or limit the power of God. His power is not determined by our experiences, our belief, or lack thereof.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live—Deuteronomy 30:19
Choose to believe God and His Word…regardless of the circumstances. Believe God heals; whether it is a headache, backache, toothache, or some dreadful disease…it is all the same to Him.
What is the alternative? Believing that it is God’s will for you to be sick, believing that you have to take whatever comes on you, or trusting in a health care system that is based upon profit and have no vested interest in you getting well?
I believe God.
I believe in God’s love for His children.
I believe God wants His children whole and well.
Make the choice to receive His Healing for yourself and share His Healing with others.

It’s true. When you look at it there are a lot catch all sicknesses going around that science doesn’t understand. They call it “ideopathic” at times and other times they admit that it’s an art and the necessary treatment could come from potentially varied specialist because they don’t know the causing system in the body. We have an increase in autism, allergies, irritable bowel syndrome, muscle pain and more. I have been healed of some of the above after failed medicine because the cause was spiritual not physical. They went away with a surrender to Christ.I am not minimizing science. I believe there can be a harmony with science and religion with the boundaries that science is uncovering God’s truth. And God created the materials for the weapons so no weapon formed against us shall prosper(Is 54:17). So if he created bacteria then he made the fungus that goes in antibiotics to kill it. But other times our catch all problems that we’ve been spending tons of money on will go away if we submit to the life that God wants for us(Isaiah 61).

I agree! When it comes to healing, our rallying cry should be God First! This is not to diminish the role of Doctors or medicine, but it is to distinguish the fact that God is the source of all healing and whether Doctors are involved or not, we need to look to and TRUST GOD for our healing!
Thank you for your input on this post! Blessings!

Hi Sebastian- I have a twin sister who fell off a doctors table as an infant. My parents were told she would be paralyzed on one side of her body. My parents went to the hospital chapel to pray– they came back and my mom was holding my sister’s paralyzed hand as she was being rolled into surgery. Then a miracle happened– she squeezed her hand. She made a full recovery and even the doctors said it was a miracle! It is sad to me that my father and sister have now forgotten or dismissed that God was involved in this healing. Please pray Sebastian that they come back to Jesus and remember his mercy. God bless.

That is sad but understandable. Many people have forgotten their walk with God. I will pray for them to return to God and for your strength as you do the same.
If you don’t mind, please send me their first names so I can place them on the prayer list! Blessings to you!

It’s so good to be reminded to pray for everything that is bringing you down, even if it is only a headache. People forget to go to God for physical healing and this was a great message 🙂

God does not wrong. When we experience physical or mental suffering is that we have things to do. Learn to bear, to better help others. Learn to be still stronger, for ourself, and for our loved ones

I sit here smiling as I once again have recieved a word from God through you. I found myself having some anxiety last night over health issues that most likely my mind simply conjures up. Just another side effect from that evil anxiety. Anyway…I prayed to God and asked Him to please give me something to help restore my faith in the fact that he is truly in control, especially over my health. No matter what problems I face…whether they be real or dillusions from an exhausted mind and body. I checked my email this morning and there was your post. Thank you! It gives me hope for today! God bless you!

Hi Tammy! I am happy that the Lord encourages us when we need it! You are precious to Him and he has declared you whole and well!
Every word and verse that the Lord send your way and speaks to your spirit is for you! Take it and meditate upon it by reading, pondering, and speaking it. You will see the difference; first in your mind and then in your circumstances…whatever they may be!
“Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.” — 1 Tim. 4:17

“Truth is higher than fact.” I love that statement. We can apply that to all areas of Christianity! Such a great truth in that!

Thank you for that! I have to remind myself of that often. There is so much “fact” facing us in our daily lives, that will absolutely overwhelm us if we allow it.
However, to be reminded of the “Truth” of God’s Word and to meditate upon it…breaks the power the facts have over us.
