20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:20-21 (KJV)

This is now the third installment of this subject. To get caught up, I invite you to read the first and second posts on this subject by clicking the links.

The idea being conveyed is, if we change our words we can change our lives. However, the basis of this change has to be built around the Will of God for our lives, as revealed in His Word, being spoken out of our mouths purposely. This is necessary because of the need to see a change in our world and the world around us. If we continue to do the same things the same way nothing will ever change. God has left everything in our hands and whether we like it or not…it is our responsibility to take dominion over this earth.

So, we have to ask ourselves the question: am I doing all I can to advance the Kingdom of God here on earth? Jesus told us to pray: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven”—Matthew 6:10 (KJV). However, it is important to note that we need to understand that the Kingdom represents the rule of God and we are ambassadors of that Kingdom. As ambassadors or representatives of God’s Kingdom, it is our responsibility to serve the King and see to the Kingdom’s advancement through the declaration of the Word of God. No change will take place without it first being declared. We absolutely cannot just think it, nor will it, we must speak it!

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

We see here that God told Joshua how to advance the Kingdom by keeping it in his mouth. The very word meditate, in its original form, lends its meaning to speaking those things you are contemplating. Therefore, as you are spending time in the Word and being thoughtful of what God is saying to you in it, begin to say what God has said about you and your world. By doing this, you will begin to break any stronghold the enemy may have upon you and those you love.

For example, if there is sickness in your body, find every scripture you can on healing and begin to read, meditate, and speak it over your life until it becomes reality in your mind, spirit, and finally your body. This process can be used to implement change in every area of our lives. The scriptures explain:For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear”—Mark 4:28 (KJV). This represents the power of transformation from the inside out. God gives us this ability but we have to make the choice to use it or not!

It is no different from when we “confess” Jesus as Lord. When we do, the same transforming power is at work. However, if we refuse to accept the gift of God’s Grace and the power He gives us through speaking, we will remain in the grip of sin and Satan. The scriptures declare: But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise…”Romans 10:6 (KJV). Our faith in God is implemented in our willingness to speak out that faith; from receiving the forgiveness of our sins, to seeing loved ones saved, to the healing of our bodies, to getting our bills paid, to seeing our communities changed for the Glory of God!

This is the advancing of the Kingdom of God, and for us it is instituted in the words we speak. To see victory in your life, you have to change your believing to line up with the Word of the Living God, begin to only speak what you believe, and see it come to pass!

You’re welcome Beth! It does sound easy but as you and I know, it is a “great challenge”. However, it is a challenge we must rise to because our victory, if not our very lives, depends upon our understanding of faith and exercising it through our words. Blessings to you and yours as well!

As my training, common in the field of consulting, included “If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got”. This article made me think of the Exodus story: whine and get sour grapes, but sing praise and get milk and honey. It also flashes into mind of those who say all the right words on Sunday and then gossip people to death every other day (James 3:9). Again I encourage you to speak such good words as this post contains over and over…

That concept is so simple that people miss it. If we keep our hearts, minds, and mouth in check…it will make a world of difference in our lives! Thank you for your encouragement…I so appreciate it!

Sebastian, this is exactly what I had to do and it is an every day process. God has changed my thinking from negative to positive. The book that did it was Joyce Meyer’s “Battlefield of the Mind.” The enemy is constantly filling our minds with his lies and learning how to rebuke him and hear the voice of God is a renewed mind. I so appreciate your words of wisdom. God has blessed you and you are a blessing to all of us!

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words! You are right, our minds have to be renewed to see the way God wants us to see. It is so easy to “call it as we see it”, but all that will get us is more of the same! God has called us to take dominion over the “circumstances” of life…rather than they having dominion over us!

Thanks again and may His Grace continue to cover you!

  8. What a great question to ask, “am I doing all I can to advance the Kingdom of God here on earth?” And if I answer honestly, I would have to say, no, there is more that I can do. Thank you for the sweet reminder.

You’re welcome! You know, if honest, I believe that would be the answer for every Believer; because there is always more that can be done until all come to Christ or He returns! Blessings!
