The Believer’s Benefits

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” – Psalms 103:2 (KJV)

The average person seeking a job is interested in the benefits it offers. Some benefits includes: health insurance, vacation, pension or retirement plans, etc. But have you ever thought about God’s Benefit Package? The Bible and Psalms 103 in particular, is stocked full of the benefits every believer can expect as a child of God.

These benefits were purchased with the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. There is nothing we can do to earn them—the only prerequisite is that we accept Jesus as Lord of our lives and believe in His finished work on the cross…what a deal…these benefits are perpetual, there is no expiration date—you do not have to renew!

Just think of it! As a believer, you were promised access to God’s forgiveness, healing, enduring love and mercy. Through the redemptive work of Christ, we have been forever redeemed (vs. 4). We have been bought back from Satan’s hold and given a place in the family of God. Without Jesus, our lives were doomed for destruction but now, when we accepted Him, we have been forgiven and set free!

Furthermore, the scripture tells us that God heals “all” of our diseases (vs.3). I don’t know about you but to me all means all. Please do not try to justify sickness…as some do. God’s Word shows us that He is a healer—“with his stripes we are healed.”—Isaiah 53:5; the same verse in the New Living Translation put it this way: “…He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”

As a child of God, it would do well if we familiarize ourselves with our benefit package. Its details are enclosed within one single book—the Bible. There are no payments to be made; it has been paid in full. The only thing that is required is to turn to and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept all the benefits afforded to us as believers.

  2. This one really made me smile. This is so great! When we accept Christ into our life how quickly we forget God’s benefit package which is offered freely everyday. Thanks be to God and thank you. It is a joy to follow your blog.

Hello Deirdre, I’m happy you liked it! I don’t know if Believers, as a whole, really understand all that is incorporated within our benefit package. I’m not convinced it is being taught as thoroughly as it should–although it is right there in the Bible for all to see. However, I do believe that there is a discontentment rising among those who are tired of the status quo and want more of God–and I want to lead the rebellion!
Let’s get it started here!! Much Blessing and strength to you!

Thanks Walter. It is good to know that our relationship with God has benefits! I do not serve Him because of the benefits, but it is great to know that they are there for me! Many blessings to you my brother!
